Development Manager
Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum plus car allowance
Location: Chester

This is an exciting time to be joining the Assets and Growth Team at Muir Group. The Association’s Board has just approved a revised strategy that will see a significant increase in our annual development programme. As a result, we have created this exciting new opportunity to help lead the Assets and Growth Team to deliver on this new strategy.

Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the delivery of our annual programme of new homes, supporting the Team to deliver the programme on time and within budget. You will be responsible for monitoring performance, budgets, and risk, reporting to key internal and external stakeholders and ensuring full compliance with HCA and audit requirements.

By developing and maintaining a full understanding of the housing markets in which we operate, you will also work closely with the Assistant Director of Assets and Growth and other key stakeholders to identify new business opportunities through the procurement of land, Section 106 deals and land and build package deals. You will be responsible for carrying out financial appraisals, securing approvals and leading on contract negotiations. In addition, you will be responsible for options appraisals on our existing assets, evaluating and maximising their financial and social return.

We are looking for a development professional with experience from within the social housing sector. You will have experience of managing complex, mixed tenure Development programmes, working to tight budgets and programmes and reporting to key stakeholders. You will have experience of using financial appraisal models to assess scheme viability. It is essential that you possess an in-depth knowledge of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) policies, procedures and funding. Line management experience is also required.

To be successful you will be educated to a degree level (or equivalent qualification) or have significant experience in a property / construction related field. A professional membership of a relevant construction industry body (RICS / CIOB) would be an advantage.
