The Housing Management Network annual conference 2018: Future-proofing frontline services
- Type HQN Event
- Venue London
- Start 22 Nov 2018 10:00
- End 22 Nov 2018 16:00
Housing management is at a crossroads. In some organisations the traditional role of the housing officer is under threat. For others, it remains as important as ever but has evolved to reflect changing times.
There is no right or wrong answer. But as the housing sector adopts new technology to help it adapt to new challenges, the debate around how best to deliver frontline services is hotting up.
The 1% rent cut has meant housing providers have had to look at ways to work more efficiently at a time when austerity has left many landlords as the last service standing in communities, and frontline teams are having to pick up increasingly complex cases.
At this year’s inaugural Housing Management Network annual conference we explore how landlords are futureproofing housing management and proving that face-to-face engagement on the doorstep still has an important role to play. But is this the right approach for everyone or does help need to become more targeted?
Working in housing management can be hugely rewarding and varied – developing positive relationships with people on your patch can make a big difference to their lives and the wider community.
Yet the national press still paint a derogatory picture of social housing. We will explore how, as the public face of the sector, housing officers are more vital than ever in transforming the image of landlords.
We will also explore the practicalities of the day job, identifying best practice around some of the thorny issues including anti-social behaviour, hoarding and helping vulnerable people to live independently.
