Join us to hear about the future of supported housing, directly from The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
The future of funding for supported housing services is finally becoming clear.
Theresa May’s surprise announcement that Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates would not be applied to supported housing was welcome news for housing providers, and followed a sustained period of lobbying against a policy that had put the development of thousands of supported properties on hold.
Less than a week later the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) released its official response to the supported housing funding consultation.
Two more consultations on short-term supported accommodation and the housing costs for extra care and sheltered housing have now been launched.
The plans, which will include a new ‘Sheltered Rent,’ have been largely welcomed by the sector, though plans to fund short-term accommodation through a ring-fenced local authority fund have come in for criticism.
This event will give housing providers an opportunity to hear an update from government on the plans and the new consultations, debate the implications of the change in policy direction, and hear how other landlords are adapting their approach to supported housing provision.
